The Let’s Get Galway Growing Network is part of the Galway Healthy Cities Project and is supported by local agencies including HSE West, Galway City Partnership, Galway City Council and Galway Roscommon Education & Training Board.

Health Promotion and Improvement, HSE West Health

Promotion and Improvement, HSE West, through the WHO Galway Healthy Cities Project, provides funds for communities in Galway City to establish and develop community gardens to promote healthy eating, physical activity and social connections. The work of the Let’s Get Galway Growing Network supports the implementation of Healthy Ireland – Ireland’s Health and Wellbeing Framework – at a local level to increase the health and wellbeing of people living in Galway City.

Galway City Partnership

Galway City Partnership co-ordinates the Let’s Get Galway Growing network on behalf of Health Promotion and Improvement Department, HSE West. This involves administering the annual small grants to member gardens, managing communication and information between the gardens, organising training and other networking events and supporting policy development for the gardens.

Galway City Council

Galway City Council was one of the founding agencies of the Let’s Get Galway Growing network. The council has provided the land and initial site preparation for most of the member gardens. In addition to this the council has provided small grants directly to the gardens and through other grant schemes such as Local Agenda 21 and Tidy Towns and Garden Competition.

Galway Roscommon Education & Training Board (GRETB)

Galway Roscommon Education & Training Board (GRETB) provides a Community Education Grants Scheme annually to community based groups to organise courses and educational activities in their own communities.
